KANSAS City, Mo. (BP) – Midwestern Seminary celebrated the election of Donald S. Whitney to entire-time faculty through the institution’s spring trustee conference on April 9.
Whitney will fill the John H. Powell Endowed Chair of Pastoral Ministry, serving as professor of biblical spirituality and director of the forthcoming Heart for Biblical Spirituality at Midwestern Seminary.
“Dr. Whitney is a person of prayer and audio doctrine who loves the local church and the Excellent Commission,” reported MBTS President Jason Allen. “He also loves to affect students. For these causes and numerous much more, we are delighted to have him at Midwestern Seminary.”

Whitney now serves as professor of biblical spirituality and associate dean of the university of theology at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He is also the president of The Centre for Biblical Spirituality, Inc., a non-revenue corporation he established in 2003. A former pastor, Whitney has 24 years’ expertise serving nearby church buildings in pastoral roles.
Whitney’s election to the John H. Powell Endowed Chair of Pastoral Ministry highlights his dedication to developing males and women of all ages who mirror Christ in their churches, family members and personalized life.
